A delegation from the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, led by Deputy Head for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation, Sergii Zakharin, took part in the official opening of the National Pavilion of Ukraine at BIOFACH 2025 trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
BIOFACH is the largest annual international trade fair in Europe covering the organic food, beverage, and non-food sectors.
The National Pavilion of Ukraine is represented by 24 leading Ukrainian organic exporters who are showcasing their products and technological innovations to the international audience and industry experts. The total area of the Pavilion is more than 180 square metres.
A wide range of Ukrainian organic products is on display, including berries, fruits, dairy products, nuts, honey and beekeeping products, chocolate, groats, grains and pulses, juices and jams, fruit rolls, leather and chips, baby food, snacks and breakfast cereals, medicinal herbs, oils, oilcakes, and more.
During the opening ceremony of the National Pavilion of Ukraine, Sergii Zakharin conveyed greetings from Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Serhii Tkachuk. He noted that Ukraine has established a well-regulated legal framework for the development of the organic agriculture and organic production. Currently, 481 organic operators in Ukraine are producing goods in compliance with the requirements of legislation on organic production, circulation, and labelling of organic products. There is a strengthening of Ukraine's position as an exporter of organic products (notably, around 90% of the organic products produced in Ukraine are exported to the European Union countries).
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection ensures proper state control over certain quality indicators of organic products, including timely detection of labelling violations in accordance with the legislation on organic production, circulation, and labelling of organic products.
"When purchasing goods, consumers often pay attention to the word ‘organic.’ More and more people are striving to consume natural food that have been produced without chemical fertilisers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms, or preservatives. This is a global trend. Our key task is to ensure that there are no counterfeit products on store shelves and that all organic goods on the market meet their labelling requirements. The main priorities of our delegation’s work at BIOFACH 2025 are to study the best European practices in monitoring, review updates in the EU legislation and standards on organic production, and to promote Ukrainian organic products to successfully expand into new international markets," emphasised Sergii Zakharin.
