From October 2023 to April 2014, 114 specialists of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection took part in 6 simulated risk-based inspections of milk production farms in Kyiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zhytomyr and Rivne regions.  

The participants of the trainings noted that such events are currently extremely important and necessary for the professional development of inspectors, as the risk-based approach will allow for efficient use of inspector's time and available resources and at the same time will help prevent hazards and produce safe food. 

The regional trainings were conducted by specialists of the Main Departments of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection who participated in the train-the-trainer training on "Risk-Based Inspection of Milk and Dairy Products Business Operators" from May 15 to 19, 2023 in Vinnytsia, which was organized with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian program "Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sectors in Ukraine" (QFTP). 

Simulation inspections in each region held by trained trainers is one of the most important practical steps in the implementation of the approved "Concept of Regional Trainings for the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and Authorized Veterinarians on Risk-Based Inspection of Milk Production Farms", which was only open to specialists who had completed the theoretical distance learning course "Risk-Based Inspection of Milk and Dairy Products Business Operators". 

This course is always available for registered specialists of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection via the link and is constantly updated, taking into account changes in legislation and approval/adoption of the necessary documents. 

Recently, the course was supplemented with training materials on the Standard Operating Procedure on the procedure for actions of state inspectors, state veterinary inspectors and authorized persons in case of reports of detection of residues of veterinary drugs and other inhibitors in milk. 

QFTP will continue to support the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in implementing the Concept to improve the national system of control over the safety of milk and dairy products and to bring it closer to EU requirements.
